  • Being Debt-Free Is Challenging But Solvable

    by Cecile Cinco

Just like my previous post, being debt-free is challenging but solvable.

Who says that only the poor are in debt? The rich are, too! What’s the difference?

If debt can be sized up, let’s say 10 feet high, the poor can only have debt about 1 foot high but the rich people get into debt the full 10 feet.

What’s the difference? Oftentimes, the poor people get into debt not wanting to be in debt but the rich people decided to specifically go into debt even if he can afford not to. The first one is called necessity, the latter is called business and sometimes shrewdness.

The self-made rich people got rich usually by hardwork and sacrifice, if not by malicious intent and evil plans. It took years and a lot of discipline to be where they are now. Now that they are rich but old, they enjoy the luxuries that they deprived themselves of years ago when they knowingly and decidedly planned to be financially secure. I know there are others that are plain blessed, or lucky if you want to call it, but usually those “lucky” people will shake and fall under trials and tests.

On the other hand, the poor man’s living is usually the “here and now.” What are we eating tonight? Where will we get the money to buy food? Where will we get the money for fare to work? Those are some of the questions that are boggling the minds of the poor people. Those who are poorer are just used to the daily grind that being poor is no longer an issue.

Notice, the poorest of the poor are those you usually see on the streets. They may be the poorest but you still see many of them smiling. They manage to play. They have the simplest desires, though tough times always, they accept their situation and deal with it right on.

The rich people, as I said, meant themselves to get into debt. They can afford to get out of it but they chose not to.

It’s the middle class that’s really got a problem. Not enough money to make and yet not enough courage to shun off the desires of the flesh like vanity usually confusing wants as needs also. Credit upon credit, promise upon promise, until they are in the worst of circumstances.

Actually all we need to start our way to financial freedom is Debt Management coupled with self control.
