How To Remember 100 Items In 20 Minutes And Never Forget Them – Part 2

by Cecile Cinco

Did you even try to remember 100 items in 20 minutes and not forget them? If you haven’t yet, maybe you might want to try that first before getting into the secret below! :D

The person who introduced me to the internet in 1994 was the same person who taught me this trick around that same time. The trick is, he said, is to paint it on the sky.

Go back to the list of 100 items I asked you to remember.

Perhaps memorizing the first ten of them is easy as you just have to connect each one to each of your fingers, but how about the next 90?

By painting it on the sky, it’s easy. All of the items are tangible. You can imagine what they are. What you do is just make sure you know what the first object is and the rest will follow…and you can do that as long as the limitless sky can accommodate.

How?

Connect them to each other and make a story. The more funny or unusual you can imagine it to be, as long as it connects, they you’re off to a good start up to the end.

Example: the first 10 objects are:

  1. sugar
  2. duck
  3. pencil
  4. phone
  5. ID
  6. ruler
  7. fan
  8. nose
  9. road
  10. bus

The story can go like this:

You accidentally spilled sugar on the floor and immediately a duck goes to eat it. That duck has a pencil stabbed on its back with a phone balancing on top. Your ID was inserted between then handset and the phone that has a ruler tied to it. That ruler is what you use to switch on the fan that stick your nose to because you just love the wind getting into your nose while you watch the road across your house because you’re waiting for the bus.

If you remember the story, you remember the items. You remember the story if the situation of each item is unusual or at least you picture them how it looks in your story. The first may have nothing to do with the middle or the last but what’s important is the connection between items.

With the story I just created, I closed my eyes…I did remember the first ten just with one go. You can do it ten more times and that makes a hundred.

Come on, try to paint it on the sky.
