Contemplating On A Writing Adventure

April 24th, 2008

Yesterday I’ve been thinking…What if I try to write a novel?

I know I can write. At least, better than I can literally speak. If you find me in a room full of people, perhaps I would be the most quiet person. Make no mistake, I can be noisy sometimes but that would mean I’m quite comfortable with the people around me.

I’m typically an introvert, believe it or not. :) My fingers do the talking and since I face a monitor, that has made my social environment a lot easier.

My lack of talking skills Continue reading »

I love chilli peppers. I learned how to eat it with minimal pain until I got to love it that every time I ate, there has to be some chillies with my food. Eating without made the food bland for me.

In place of chillies, I use hot sauce, the base of which is still red hot chillies. The best commercially sold I enjoyed was Tabasco but it’s so expensive so I go back to the real fresh red hot chillies or what we locally call “labuyo” which has gone expensive also buying from the market (still a lot cheaper, though).

It is a common idea that eating hot chilli gives you Continue reading »

It used to be just a Hollywood idea. It seems that the sci-fi movies of 3 or 4 decades ago are becoming reality today. Who would thought landing on the moon was possible? How about the whole world being ‘wired’ to each other? Those robot cleaners, I thought I first saw that in cartoons, Richie Rich, when I was less than 10.

Who thought of holograms? Wasn’t it Continue reading »

A lot of people complain about their jobs. Many would say that they’re just there for the money but they really do not like the job.

For others, they have no choice because it’s what’s available, and if they don’t take what’s available, how can they fulfill their cost of living?

Don’t Let Mental Block Fail Your Grades

Writing may be easy for some but a lot more stressful for others especially if those people are not inclined and are more into sports. Not that there are no sportive people who are writers as well but what I mean is the leaning, the favorite, the concentration of the attention is more on others than writing.

For those who are gifted, this is not your problem. The world does not have to end, though, for those whose direction is towards the other end and yet must pass a thesis, a research paper or an essay, among other writeups, else something drastic will happen like a failed grade, or a business deal perhaps, because of poorly written company profile or thesis. Some years ago, in 2000 if I’m not mistaken, I was complaining of back ache. It’s more of hip ache. Since we lay on the marble floor with just a mat in between the floor and our backs, I thought the cold floor was the reason why I got those aches.

One day an iridologist came to visit the town offering free checkup. He checked my eyes and saw 3 unhealthy signs: asthma, some blockage in my artery, and kidney infection was starting (which was the reason of my back ache).

    He had Continue reading »

What Cares Do You Give Your Health?

    April 15th, 2008

    by Cecile Cinco

We all know that health is wealth. Or do we? If you have bad health, what strength do you have to fulfill tomorrow? You may be alive but you can’t go anywhere because you’re bedridden, what good is that?

Usually, the bad news that we receive about our health from doctors could have been avoided if only we listened to our parents when we were much younger.

That I-don’t-care-as-long-as-I’m-happy-now attitude when it came to health restrictions when we were kids oftentimes carry on until we are adults. Since it has become a habit, what’s surprising about that? Nothing at all.

What usually happens is, when we get beyond 40 and we learn that we are sick with such and such disease or have all sorts of pain from head to toe and are under a truckload of medicine, that’s the time we think and do something healthy, finally. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s too late.

We know that Continue reading »

Last Sunday, April 13, was the regular meeting of the UCG-Manila’s Women’s Club. Since the Days Of Unleavened Bread is just a week away, the cooking/baking lessons centered on unleavened recipes.

I wasn’t able to take down notes on the ingredients and how to do them (2 recipes) but I took videos instead. The actual event was recorded including all the conversation that took place so it is as if you were there. Continue reading »

Some months back PR or pagerank was a wild issue, and it still is. A lot of high PR sites dropped down to zero. To many who did not understand at that time how PR works, there is no recourse but to flare up and blame Google for punishing sites who was hit by the PR bomb. In the first place, those that did not understand how PR is computed are the ones who were affected by the cause-and-effect of the PR formula (that included me then).

Now that I understand PR better, I’m using Continue reading »
