The world may have gone smaller and smaller, thanks to the technological advancement of the internet, making friends from all over the globe, from almost all walks of life, has become a lot easier and faster than hunting through the classifieds section of an ads paper, write with a pen, on stationery.
In actual writing with a pen over paper, a lot is being revealed about the writer, especially under the noses of those who can understand handwriting analysis. On the internet, however, you just cannot tell.
Revealing your identity over the internet would mean two things. Either something bad happens to you because everyone can track you down or, especially if you are a netepreneur, you add to your credibility, and that’s the good point.
Having been a friend of the internet since 1994, I’ve seen the development of it, both the good and the bad. I’ve revealed myself through many avenues including profiles. My blogs would support several profiles I have. The credibility, for me, is more important than the fear of the unknown. What if someone scams me? What if someone is just nearby and tracks me where I live? Those are fears many do share over the internet but still, they are just fears of something that is yet to happen IF ever they would happen. Surely, care must be taken.
If you are in business over the internet, you will do all your best to set up a good profile otherwise the doubting public will scrutinize you, or not bother at all. Take, for example the EcoQuest International profile. What do you think of it?
