Questions To Ask Yourself When Buying Real Estate Property

by Cecile Cinco

The portion of the earth that you can buy gets smaller and smaller every day. If you have the intention to buy, do it now when you have the funds otherwise you will be left with less options available. Unless you’re very specific that you’d like to buy a Wilmington NC real estate, the first question to ask yourself is: Where? That’s actually the big question that springs out several supportive questions.

Our premise is you are buying and you have the money.

To answer your question where to buy, you have to ask yourself what you want as the end result. You’ve got to specify your purpose in buying. If you’d like to retire looking out at green fields in the morning, you will rule out the urban locations. If you see yourself a stone’s throw away from everything then you would consider a condo unless there is still available house and lot package in the middle of all those everything you need to be near to.

Whether you like urban or rural life, accessibility is a major concern. How far or how near you can endure to access them will help you in determining whether you will buy a location or look for another.

How far is it to your workplace? If your work is homebased this may not matter but you also have to consider everyone living in the same house.

How accessible is public transportation? Even if you own your car, what if it breaks down?

In case of medical emergencies, how far is the nearest hospital?

How far are the nearest schools? (It’s still best to have your kids with you than stored in a school dorm or left living with other relatives…unless it doesn’t matter to you at all…)

How many and how far are the commercial establishments like grocery or convenient stores? If you need to buy some food at 10pm, is it possible?

How far is your church (if it matters at all to you)?

Is the place you are eyeing prone to accidents, flash floods, tidal waves, tornadoes, cyclones, hurricanes, volcanic erruptions, and near faultlines? Again, if it doesn’t matter, it’s for you to weigh.

What’s the crime rate of the place? There is no place where a crime has not been committed but some places are safer than others.

Where’s the nearest police outpost/station?

Where’s the nearest fire station?

Unless you plan to live alone and need no help from anyone else, you must seriously consider those questions.
