Controlling Asthma Attacks

July 31st, 2009

Asthma can be deadly. Several times I’ve experienced attacks that made me think it’s the end of me. Asthma attacks can be controlled, though. Only if you knew how to.

Two days ago I had a bad attack. I don’t panic yet inspite of that my call on God was really asking for help right away. Good thing my youngest daughter was with me then. I motioned her to tap my back. Having small hands, she got tired and her hands reddened because she had to make her taps a bit harder than usual. She did not leave until I said it was ok. I had my inhaler but having around 10 puffs in the span of 45 minutes is not normal. Normally, 2 would be enough. It was one of those near-death occasions. I’m sure God intervened. MRT Poor Security

July 26th, 2009

by Cecile Cinco

Last week as we came from Quezon Avenue, we rode the MRT (Metro Rail Transit), as usual, to Ayala. That would take about 15 minutes which could take 45 minutes by bus. As a rule, the first car is dedicated for the use of the women, children, and senior citizens. The only time a man can use that car is when he is with a child. Continue reading »

Slim Down For Health Reasons If Not For Vanity

July 5th, 2009

by Cecile Cinco

I’m not that fat. I just got heavier and have bulges where they used to be flat and wished they remained flat. :D After having 3 children and activities that made my fingers do the walking, it seems that I’m going to say goodbye to my body which I had less than 2 decades ago.

I loved my body then. Not because of beauty but because I was agile, strong and healthy. I rode a bike like I was a guy. I swam the beaches going the farthest. I played volleyball like there was no other day. I played bowling 15-20 games a day. (Paying those games is beside the point…I always played loser’s pay and usually start and end with the same money I had in my pocket.) Continue reading »

It is a common saying, that beauty is just skin-deep. That means to say that there are more important aspects of a person that would outlast beauty when the golden years are at hand.

It doesn’t mean, though, that even if it’s just skin deep, you won’t care for it at all. Frankly, I’m one of those who don’t care much about my skin. I used to play volleyball with a friend back when I was yet learning some 2 decades ago during lunch break. That’s 12 noon to 1pm! My skin would tan and later peel off and I would not care at all. My Horseriding Experience

    July 5th, 2009

    by Cecile Cinco

I was probably 13 or 14 then. We were in Baguio City, sometime in September or October. The whole family went horseback riding at the Wright Park where horses go around with or without a guide.

The first few minutes with the guide was ok. I thought it was actually boring because the horse was just walking as the guide held the rope. He actually asked me if I’d like to be left alone. I agreed. The guide left but the horse stood still for about 10 minutes. My time is running out and so is the money which is paid by the half hour. Continue reading »

    Having More Or Having Less

    July 5th, 2009

    by Cecile Cinco

Humans in general desire to have more and complain of having less. More money, more space, more food, more gadgets, more toys, more vacation time, more idle time.

Others, though, are content with what they have. Some, don’t dream of anything at all, stuck to the idea that there is no hope for them like the street bums.

Along the squatters area, you can see people barely having anything to cover their body. If ever, they look like rags. You see many children. You’d wonder, how on earth they were able to produce more children when they don’t have much to feed them? But along with those lack, you see them playing around, smiling, laughing, barely thinking of any care in this world. To them, that moment is their moment and they have to make the most out of that very moment. Continue reading »

Pros And Cons Of Having Internal TV Card Instead Of The Real TV

    July 5th, 2009

    by Cecile Cinco

We have the internal TV. We used to have a real one but when it broke down, we opted for the card that can be installed on the motherboard. Although I can live without TV, it’s still good to watch from time to time and get the latest news locally.

    Ways To Slim Down

    July 5th, 2009

    by Cecile Cinco

Despite the economy, we still find that many are getting obese, especially in the American society. Food is what America is blessed with. It wouldn’t matter if everything is natural like fruits and vegetables and wheat, but they are also rich in junk food.

Getting obese is actually an eating habit. Look at the French people. They have red wine. Drank moderately after eating, wine, which is rich in proanthenols, helps in getting their body fit and slim. Continue reading »

    What’s Wrong With Practicality?

    July 5th, 2009

    by Cecile Cinco

You probably have heard the saying, “If you failed to plan, you planned to fail.”

With the economic crisis the whole world is experiencing, more jobs are sought than what is available. More are overworked for lesser pay. Both parents need to work to provide for the family, especially the children.

What if you still have a baby? How can you work? Leaving it to a nanny may be a solution but if you ask me, I’ll never leave my growing kids to a nanny. When I had my first baby, my mom offered to watch over her while I was at work as an employee. I’d bring her over to my mom’s house at 6am and come back at around 9pm. Continue reading »
