Catch The Dragon’s Tail

by Cecile Cinco

A few days ago, I hosted the Family Day during the Feast of Tabernacles here in Baguio City where we are stranded at the moment due to the landslides and broken bridges. During that Family Day, I called on the women. Twelve got on the floor including some seniors (my mom and another). The others are quite healthy but there are two who are quite heavy. Then I announced it would be the game Catch The Dragon’s Tail.

After giving instructions, the game began. When the force of turning got faster beyond control, many have lost grip of holding the waistlines of those in front of them.  Three to four of them fell including my mom. Two quit leaving 5 for each group. On the second try, the other senior fell and rolled on the floor. She’s 67. Quite slim but the fact that she’s old gave me shivers down my spine. What if something bad happened? I called off the game and declared the winner. Later when I had 5 prizes left, I gave them to the other team as well.

I asked all those who fell how they are, especially my mom and the other lady. My mom was ok. The other lady who rolled on the floor was ok too. She said since she was quite healthy and agile, perhaps it’s the reason why nothing bad happened. She is really health conscious. She doesn’t look old at all! I just forgot to ask if she uses wrinkle creams because her skin is quite smooth too! I was just glad nothing bad happened and I promised myself not to have that game played ever again…unless maybe if the place is in a field of grass and played by the boys.
