Photos taken and printed on paper will not last as long as printed on canvas. Canvas can be wet and dried without damaging the photograph. If you want your walls displaying your special moments, try the custom canvas prints and your home will surely be a subject of conversation.
You can also preserve your digital copies online and make several copies. You can never tell when one storage location is no longer available especially if you got it for free. I have just lost thousands of pictures when my laptop was taken by robbers in the middle of the night. 
Some of them I have saved online but some were still in queue.
