There are people afraid of deep water, hence, they do not want to learn to swim. They are afraid that along the process, something might happen and it will just leave them drowning to death.
Have you heard of facing your fears? You cannot solve the problem just running away from what you fear of. You have to learn how to swim so that you have a better chance of surviving when the opportunity comes. Three quarters of the earth is water. How high is the chance of being dropped on water than on land? If you are thrown in the pool by a prankster, how can you survive if you cannot swim? Learning to swim is your ounce of prevention to avoid the pound of cure. It is not 100% success but you sure do have a better chance of survival.
