My miracle baby who is now a 14-yo lady is ecstatic. She is excited and has gone better and better in her ghost writing career (she thinks of it already as a career to take)! The first time she tried it, she was able to make 4 posts. The next batch, she did 6. This time she wrote 5.

What made her so happy is the income she has made. It is not much as a blogger or a a regular ghost writer but for a 14-yo girl, it is something much! She said she loves it because all she has to use is her brains and a computer. Besides, she gets to help me with my tasks.

The three girls are all ghost writing for a ghost writer (me) and by the way their classmates responded to the idea when they told them, their classmates had no idea at all what it is my kids are doing for a living. It somewhat made them feel unique.

Just before leaving for school, my 14-yo said she wanted to buy a pair of school rubber shoes. I said, “well, you have the money.” My 12-yo girl is also happy because she gets to have a violet banknote in her savings can!

My 17-yo is also helping and has contributed several of her works. I don’t pay her, though, because the whole ghost writing income practically goes to her schooling as a freshman in college.

All of their works go under my eyes so I still correct some grammars and typo errors but at least they have thought about the concept of the post they write about. They also get to train their writing ability. I’m sure it will help a lot in school.

Almost a decade ago, the caregiving industry blossomed. There was such a demand that a lot of people wanting to go to America and Canada pursued this path. Many who have been degree holders for several years before took up the course to find greener pastures. Apparently, they were not content with their current situation.

Several years ago, the nursing industry blossomed. They had so much effect that even doctors at that time went back to school to take up nursing. They succeeded in earning more. For the following years, that mindset occupies many Filipino students. Most took up nursing to go abroad for better financial future.

What’s happening now? Despite having the lowest passing rate for the last board exam, the government will now restrict the influx of students for the next school year due to the excess of nurses without a job. If you know someone in that plight, what career advice can you give?

I suddenly recalled a joke:

Employer to employee: “You asked for a job, I gave you one. Now you’re looking for pay?”

Now, with that kind of mentality, you want to make sure, look for a job with pay!

Those without paying jobs are looking for one and those who hire try to lower the pay, as much as possible. Even with the labor law, many still manage to escape! Since the small guy is looking for money, he just accepts what is set before him. How pitiable!

At the time that nurses were the most needed jobs in America, many doctors in the Philippines took up nursing! Up until now, we have a lot of nursing students so they can land on a healthcare job…ultimately in America.

It’s sad they have to leave to make a living elsewhere when their skill is needed here more. What can we do? Unless the government does something with the salaries of people who are needed to stay, like doctors, nurses, teachers, police….the people who take care of the nation…they’ll always look for a greener pasture and go for it when opportunity arises.

by Cecile Cinco

During this time when everyone is looking for a job and that there are more applicants now than the previous years, it is difficult for those hiring to get the right person for the job they need someone someone to fill.

Imagine yourself as the one looking for the right person. You get the word out that you’re looking. People of all sorts from everywhere dropped their resumes that would fill up an industrial trash bin. Your email gets full also because these days online application is the way to go. Your problem now is sorting out from all those applications.

Regardless whether the resume was professionally done or just typed using an old manual typewriter, with such bulk of incoming applications, I’m pretty sure you will get tired of reading through all them. You’re not just going to read them but you’re going to think whether the person is qualified or not. Unless, maybe, it’s what you only do 5 or 6 days a week, 8 hours a day, for the whole year and stay in the company you work for.

Why not, instead, ask the help of an Executive Search Firm? Then you have all the time to think of other more productive projects than later get sleepy as you sieve through the bulk of applications.

–
Nobody knows executive search firms quite like Dennis Carey, a leading executive recruiter. Know more about Dennis Carey’s profile through his books at Amazon.com.

by Cecile Cinco

I was never good in Math. I can survive somehow. I may not be able to solve fast but I can figure out ways to find an answer. If you can explain the problem to me in a sentence, I’ll most probably be able to answer. I said ‘most probably’ and not ‘surely,’ ok? Just a disclaimer there.

Since the first Adam, numbers already existed. It’s the most universal language anyone has the understanding of with the same meaning. When you hold up your hands, anyone from any country knows that we have normally ten fingers.

Counting has been a standard. It gives us the understanding how many, how much, how long, how fast, whatever is we are talking about. One of those most counted is money. Although money is the dirtiest paper that goes around, it is also the most loved piece in the whole world. People will forever be counting money. We will always have banks and banking jobs will always be available. Apart from online jobs, I think banking jobs will keep you close to where money is.
