From then on we have used several Linux OSes though most have been with Ubuntu. Now we are using Lubuntu (light Ubuntu–Ubuntu is already light so Lubuntu is lighter).

What is great with Linux is I can still work online despite the difficulty in hard disk access. Many times it fails to connect. When that happens, all I have to do is boot from the flash drive with the Lubuntu OS and that’s it. I get to connect to the internet and continue working.

It’s not all I needed but it’s enough to hang on. It is just as if I’m at an internet shop where I don’t have my local files. Since most of what I do, anyway, are online, I can live by it for awhile until hubby arrives to give the hardware some fix.

Computer was offline for a few days. Work hampered though it was diverted to other work (still) like having my sewing machine finish its job.

Computer broke down. As in, it would not boot at all. After a day’s rest, it would boot but it would snap out of life just when the xp logo comes out. At this time when we are finishing 2 websites, this incident cannot be. The computer must work.

I tried to clean the processor’s heat sink. It was really dirty. When I separated the heat sink from the fan, the paste (forgot what it’s called) used to cool off the processor was not working…or it has reached its melting point…sort of. We bought one (single usage) and applied it. Now I’m fine.

So when your computer won’t boot at all, don’t rush to change the processor or the motherboard, which are very costly. Try that cooling paste (lol, can’t think of what it’s called up until now).

As someone who has been online for quite some time (more than a decade), getting disconnected is something that is not really that easy.

I love the internet. It jives well with my introvert nature. Writing better than speaking, I sure can manage well typing than talking to someone I haven’t really met face to face.

I love that some of my jobs can be done online. Actually, even my offline job is abnormally brought online. Abnormal in the sense that the normal people do it offline. I chose to do it online.

When my DSL got disconnected for financial difficulty, I had to work going to an internet cafe, just like what I do now. During this time, my flash drive is my best friend. Hopefully by Wednesday, I’m back online at home!

by Cecile Cinco

It started when I was curious about ‘Craiglist Exposed’ but found out that the ebook is for sale from $1.99 to $79. I searched and searched, looking for the same but free. If I can get it for free, why not? These could be the way I can get disney world tickets!

As I searched, I not only found the particular ebook I was looking for but several others, in fact, a lot others, that are useful to help me make money online and develop my online skills.

The list below is what I found, all for free if I join for free, and I even get a $10 sign-up bonus.

All I have to do is visit the ads sent to me and I earn points. The number of ads depend on the categories you ticked. A maximum of 10 ads per day will be sent to you so if you visit them all, you get 10 points. It’s basically an advertising pool and you get a share depending on your effort.

You can get paid by cheque or by PayPal when you reach payout level which is $50 for PayPal and $55 for cheque.

The downloadables are already a great resource for me, which is what triggered me to sign up. I think it would benefit you too so you might as well want to take the opportunity while it’s available.

by Cecile Cinco

We still use a CRT monitor. Recently we’ve been experiencing that the screen is turning dark that watching movies depicting a dark setting makes it difficult to appreciate what we’re watching. We have to switch off the room light in order to make that night vision a bit clear.

We have done some research and found out that it is better to have an LCD which is friendlier to the electric bill consumption and the environment but sadly, it is not that friendly to our pockets. Not that it is not worth the cost. Rather, we cannot yet afford it.

One day this monitor might just give up and I will no longer be able to see anything. Unlike the olden times during the XTs and the 286s and the operating system was a number two in Spanish (DOS), which cam be accessed and operated on even without a monitor as long as you memorize what’s going on, with today’s computers, that’s just impossible. (Come to think of it, just right now, can the accessibility feature work if the monitor just got black? I haven’t tried it but the blind can use the computer, right?)

I think I have enough LCD monitors to choose from around the globe. I am not limited to certain known stores which prices tend to go high since they are well known. The lesser known sites tend to put their prices down because their well known competition are selling with a higher price. These days, people are very concerned with price, though it is not the only concern. Perhaps I can find a store that is also nearby, then I can go to the store in person!

Another that we are considering is a laptop. It is still great to have everything portable. Before we do, it would be good to review the buying guide so we can have an educated choice.
