I was actually thinking more about my eldest daughter who just graduated high school. How can we maximize the summer vacation and be productive?

Hubby has been coaching her. He has been supportive of her wanting to work and guiding her what to do. It’s just that, she has to do it herself, like looking for the job and applying.

He also authoritatively suggested that she has to maximize this summer vacation by learning how to use the 3 basic office tools: word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation. The MS Office may be popular but it’s almost the same with Open Office, which is free. Besides, we’re using Ubuntu.

Her father is giving her 3 hours a day just to learn. Learn how to type fast instead of just reading manga and watching videos. That will be 3 hours taken from my schedule! It’s either that or we have to buy another desktop or laptop. Although laptops can be brought anywhere, desktops are a lot cheaper…a lot bulkier, though.

She was given 2 months to get the speed of 35 words per minute, at least, at the same time knowing the ins and outs of the Office programs. It will also be a preparation for the foreseen desktop publishing business when we move to Paranaque.

“No man is an island.” That is to say, no human being can live alone and be happy. Maybe you can survive but something will be missing. There is no one to share your happiness with, no one to comfort you when you need comfort, no one to talk with so you stay sane.

We need each other to brainstorm. “Two heads are better than one.” My idea plus your idea equals a better base for an informed decision. More heads are better than two. Like, for example, what fat burners work?

During my grandparents’ time, you can be a teacher without even reaching secondary level. It’s more of a necessity to teach the younger once who do not know and lack of real teachers. Combined with the second world war, survival is very important.

In the 70s to the 90s, college education became divided the haves and the have-nots. In the year Y2K, when nearly everyone was so stressed out with what could possibly happen since the computers were only configured to understand 1999, and the love bug (iloveyou virus) was the first global virus to hit the widest coverage, and the boy who programmed it was said to be hired by Microsoft, education shifted from physical buildings to virtual. Even before the HTML course hit the classrooms, I was already tutoring (for pay, of course).

Now, not only computer-related subjects are available over the internet. Who would think ten years ago that medical coding training courses will be available now?
