In the mid-80s to the late 80s, pacman only meant the now classic DOS game played loaded from the 5 1/4″ diskette. Now, Pacman is no other than the Philippines’ national treasure Manny Pacquiao who will attempt to make his 8th world title in differing divisions, on Sunday (Philippine time), against Margarito who is 4 1/2 inches taller, with a longer reach by 6 inches. Most, if not all, Pacman’s opponents were heavier, taller, and spanned longer! Despite that, though, he won.

When Pacman is in the ring for a world record, he is multitasking. He is garnering honor for the Philippines and himself, always giving back the credit to God, at the same time making another record for the Philippines for having zero crime rate even for just a day. The hoodlooms are also watching!

There are two types of viewers in the Philippines. Those who watch the live version and those who wait for the ad-packed version on tv. I was one of those who would search for free live stream sites but only managed to see slow connection for a few minutes then suddenly cut off. I’d end up waiting for the tv version.

Do you want to watch the live stream for free? If you’re a PLDT DSL subscriber, and have at least 768 Kbps connection speed, you can! If you’re a plan 990 subscriber, though, you will have to upgrade to plan 1299 then you can reserve your Pacman slot until November 8. Every year, we prepare for the Festival Show which is shown in one of the nights of the Feast of Tabernacles celebrated by the United Church of God members all around the world. We, as always, are attending the Baguio City feast site.

It is only during the Festival Show that I get involved in dancing and it is only with the church choir that I get to sing. Not that I wanted to desperately. Rather, those are my inhibitions and it is only through the church activities that I get myself involved.

Since there had been a systematic arrangement since 2003 because of the loving efforts of our choreographers (they’re shy too and don’t want their names mentioned), I was able to learn different dances. This year, it’s Tarantella! Together with my hubby, mother and brother, the four of us practice almost every Sunday since June. Dress rehearsal will be on the 5th of September. Performance is in September as well.

The good thing about getting involved is having the right costume. It makes the show alive! With Tarantella we’re like gypsies and we got a tambourine each. What I like with this particular costume is the fake corset. Not that I wanted it fake. Corsets give a slimmer figure even if it’s just a design and not a real one. When we’re done with the show I’ll post pictures!

The dance itself is rather complicated although with practice it gets easy. I tried looking for a sample at YouTube but none can compare. Our choreographer took steps out of different variations. I’ll see if I can be able to post the video of the performance too.

Before I had the opportunity to see the movie, Mosters vs Aliens, I’ve never seen the trailer. When the opportunity knocked, I opened the door. It turned out a great visitor!

I’m not much a fan of monsters nor aliens but since this is from Dreamworks, it must be good!

Watching a movie in a movie theater was almost like new to me since the last time I did was 15 years ago. It used to be that me and my ex-boyfriend watched 3 movies a week. When I got married and had kids, watching was limited to Betamax, VHS, VCD and now DVD.

As soon as I got my ticket, excitement grew.

It was actually my first time to watch a 3D movie. I was seated at the far left but somewhat in the middle (vertically). It should have been better if I sat the farthest but I was with a group of other bloggers and where we sat was the place where we all ten could sit.

Despite my seat location, I was taking notice of the 3D technology. With 3D glasses on, images were popping out the screen to the middle of the theater! Artwork was very detailed and movement was close to human smoothness.

On the plot, here is what it says at the back of my ticket:

When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. The military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of Monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, the President is persuaded to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.

Before you enter the theater, you will have to deposit any mobile phone, camera or recorder. If you don’t want to deposit them, you might as well leave them at home or in your car. When you deposit, you will also give your ID and both the ID and the device will be placed in a sealable plastic and a number with a rubberband will secure it in place. Don’t lose your number so you can claim your device later. With the ID, though, I think you can claim it still since you can be identified. It is also a safety precaution for others claiming who might have just picked up a lost number. The number is just an easy way to identify the particular item but the ID will identify if you are the real depositor.

2 thumbs up for the movie, the technology, and the security! So if you are still undecided, I say go for it! If I, a mother, did enjoy and loved it, I’m very sure the kids would too, more than I did.

By the way, it was announced that all future animations by Dreamworks will be available in 3D. Yay!!!

Last night we were watching Nicolas Cage’s National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Jon Voight’s role is Cage’s father. I’ve actually seen it twice and I find it still good to watch.

Jon Voight, father of Angelina Jolie, is really good. Very good. Now, after 40 years of being in a series role in Gunsmoke, he’s playing Jack’s (Keith Sutherland) nemesis in 24. As an actor, he can be both the good and bad guy.
