You Are What You Eat

January 20th, 2010

My mom used to say when we kids were little, “you are what you eat, so eat right.” Candies were banned and we ate brewer’s yeast and wheat germ…and I love them! In fact, just recently, I wolfed on some my sister gave me. Wheat germ, that is. None in my family liked it but I sprinkle it on my food and when I feel I had just a little, I’ll spoon some directly into my craving mouth. :) Continue reading »

C5’s Original Cheese Sticks

November 19th, 2009

by Cecile Cinco

This is as spontaneous as it can get. The other day I was referred to a Kraft Eden site and I found out I can be part of a world breaking record on December 14. I got excited as I’m a cheese eater and lover. I usually eat a whole bar of cheese (the small one). Especially when I run out of time to eat and I’d have to rush to a strenuous event like a bowling tourney. I usually buy a bar of cheese and a liter of choco drink. Heaven! Continue reading »

Spontaneous Recipe: C5’s Sweet And Spicy Omelette

September 17th, 2008

by Cecile Cinco

At 2:35 pm, I just finished my lunch. I started late so I ended up late as well. I wasn’t that hungry though I did not really eat that much. I’m actually in some sort of diet. I think it’s working. Well, I think. Basically it’s a no-rice diet so it’s a carboless diet. :) Continue reading »

Beauty Foods

Centuries have passed and still we don’t stop looking for the fountain of youth. I even remember the movie The Lost Horizon when I was still very young. I think it was in the early 80s. According to the story, there is a place where you don’t look old even if you are more than a hundred years old but if you try to get out of the bounds of the place, your physical age will manifest in just a few hours you’ve gone past the gate. by Cecile Cinco

Now I know why everyone says that life begins at 40. It is at this age that people generally get more health conscious. During the previous years, we only generally enjoy even the “foods” that we know that are certain to destroy our health. Continue reading »

I love chilli peppers. I learned how to eat it with minimal pain until I got to love it that every time I ate, there has to be some chillies with my food. Eating without made the food bland for me.

In place of chillies, I use hot sauce, the base of which is still red hot chillies. The best commercially sold I enjoyed was Tabasco but it’s so expensive so I go back to the real fresh red hot chillies or what we locally call “labuyo” which has gone expensive also buying from the market (still a lot cheaper, though).

It is a common idea that eating hot chilli gives you Continue reading »

Last Sunday, April 13, was the regular meeting of the UCG-Manila’s Women’s Club. Since the Days Of Unleavened Bread is just a week away, the cooking/baking lessons centered on unleavened recipes.

I wasn’t able to take down notes on the ingredients and how to do them (2 recipes) but I took videos instead. The actual event was recorded including all the conversation that took place so it is as if you were there. Continue reading »

How To Make Your Own Coconut Virgin Oil

    March 6th, 2008

    by Cecile Cinco

Coconut virgin oil has been popular for quite some time now. If you search through the internet, all of them claim that theirs is the best but one point I’d like to let you know in case you’ve been drawn to believe that their produce is the best: If heat was applied, it’s no longer virgin. Also, avoid any metal to touch the coconut meat apart from the shredder.

It used to be Continue reading »

I love pasta, especially pizza. But I prefer it hot…as in chili hot.

Whenever I go to a pizza house, I usually start with a bottle of hot sauce and finish with half-a-bottle of it remaining. Ok, it Continue reading »
