Wedding rings are often gold and sometimes silver. That is the norm. Who says, though, that anything else cannot be used? I actually have a friend couple who shopped for wedding rings made of tungsten. While tungsten is blackish, titanium is silvery. Since we’ve lost our wedding rings to a pawnshop, I’d like to buy a pair sometime in the future when there is extra cash. While it is not really that critical, having a wedding ring simply announces that yes, we’re married. It will not be difficult to match it with other titanium jewelry. With my sensitive skin, I hope I’m not allergic to it.

I have three girls. I have thought of giving them something they can keep for life like a bracelet or a necklace. It has been delayed for lack of budget.

One time when we were in Baguio, I saw heart pendants hung through black strings for necklace. I bought 3 of them. Black for my eldest, cyan for my 2nd and pink for my youngest. They’re only cheap pendants and they’re also cheaply made.

One day I’d like to buy them disney jewelry. I’m sure they’ll love it. When that will be, it doesn’t matter…even if they grow up to be ladies already.

Two months ago, during the UCG-Manila Women’s Club, we were introduced to jewelry crafting. Our mentor, Nida Panlaqui (suddenly I forgot her married name! Panlaqui is how I’ve known her since about 3 decades ago!) was our resource person. Her mother is a member of our club. Kids of members were also invited so 2 of my girls were there too.

I made a pair of earrings. I wanted something different, I made it look like tiny people. I've made more of them later, better and improved.

I turned my "little person" into a zip holder.

It was such a success because after the Show & Tell portion of the club, which usually lasts 45 minutes, that time it continued until the club ended (it started at around 10am and ended around 4pm), while still doing other stuff.

Later for the following weeks, I’ve gone to jewelry craft shops to buy my stones and pins and several pliers. My 3 girls got busy and creative. We were able to sell some just at our door to people walking by. Some were sold during the Church’s recently concluded rummage sale.

I hope to sell them online too once I get a good camera. My phone cam’s not good anymore. I need something that good for real like a digital camera but that costs too much way beyond my budget!

Also, I hope I can do jewelry-making with loose diamonds too! That would be awesome!

I have 3 girls ages 10, almost 13 and almost 16. I’ve been thinking of buying something for them that will last their lifetime. I also want it personal so they keep it as long as they live. So I thought, maybe a gold initial pendant will be great! But then again, I guess I have to wait a while longer especially for my youngest.

What else can you think of that may also be an alternative for my purpose?
