Do you have that special someone that you call and/or text more than you do anyone else? That special someone may be your better half, your girl or boy friend, your daughter or son, your mom or dad, your best friend, or simply your phone or text pal.

How much do you spend? Do you think it is more expensive than P175 a month? How about P150 a month? If you answer yes, then you have to read on! Especially at this time of saving (even forced due to the economy), we should always be aware and on the lookout for ways to stretch that Philippine Peso a little bit longer.

The concept is simple. You register the number or several numbers you often call and/or text. Once done, you only spend P150 (postpaid) or P175 (my super plan). That’s Globe Super One!

You just broke up? Change your frequently called number (that you registered to Super One), to that of your confidante’s! Yes, you can change numbers if you want to!

As for bloggers, get a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy S Android phone! Join the Super One Blogger Contest to get that chance! Blog about your own SUPER ONE and the best blog post will win.

Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:

Use of Photos or Video – 20%

Uniqueness & Originality – 20%

Theme & Content – 30%

Creativity – 30%

Deadline is August 8, 2010, at 1pm.

For Prepaid and Tattoo subscribers, have a little patience as Globe plans to extend the service to us soon.

The habit of saving should be instilled in a person’s mind as young as possible. Creating that habit will help the person as he/she grows up. It will instill the value of money and can also help in times of financial difficulty.

This morning, my two daughters, ages 10 and 13 were making themselves their own savings “can” out of a recyclable tumbler which they covered with a folder board. Yes, they are easy to get if you don’t have the character to stop yourself…

The world is experiencing economic crisis…even if you say that some countries are not feeling the hurt, it is a reality that we are better off yesterday than today.

Everyone is in the saving mode. Rather, stingy mode…if not 100% of the world’s population, perhaps 1% only can be extravagant like those in the entertainment industry, the elite, and the royalty.

Many in the 3rd world are below the poverty level. Those under the class C, D and E are 99% on the stingy mode. Although those under the class C can be living a lifestyle that’s comfortable enough, these are the people who can actually save without hurting their comfort zone…like asking for several auto insurance quotes before actually buying the first one you received.

So much is wasted in the kitchen station if you you are not aware of it in the first place. We usually cook more than what is enough for us so everybody gets satisfied and filled. Sometimes, though, people are hungrier or less hungry than usual so it’s either the cooked food is less or too much, if not enough.

It’s easy when you have a refrigerator. Stuffing leftovers in the fridge seems to solve the problem. Sometimes, it’s not. Food gets cold-dry and more often than not, it’s no longer palatable. That goes to waste. Waste of fridge space, waste of food, waste of time spent to store it…all goes to waste unless the food is eaten. So, to make it palatable, make sure to let the food always fresh.

Storing books not meant to be used is just a waste of space and the use for a specific book is not maximized. I don’t mean souvenirs or collections but textbooks.

Now, with the internet, we can sell textbooks online for others to use. We maximize the use of the trees that were felled to make those books.

There are several ways to buy real estate. Traditionally, you buy a land and build your house on it. The land can be pre-owned or from a developer, turning it into a subdivision and you buy a parcel of it.

Paying can be in cash or installment, depending on the available schemes. Normally, buying cash gives you discount. If you can afford it, you get the property cheaper. Going installment means your out-of-pocket is less but prolonged for a number of years, in which case you are charged an interest. If you calculate the total, it would be much expensive. But hey, you’re taking a loan so that interest rate is just the charge for the loan for you to be able to get your property sooner than later.

There is a cheaper way, if you have the cash anyway. Cheaper in the sense that you get more for the your money. Go for foreclosures. They are mortgaged and the owner cannot pay for it anymore so he’ll sell at a much cheaper price so there could still be some left for him after paying the bank where he mortgaged his property. If he doesn’t sell, the bank will just take his house. That’s the general idea of it.

Try for example, Outer Banks foreclosures, and look around.

Many have realized that we have done a lot of destruction to our Mother Earth that time is being cut short for our existence that we might just find ourselves outliving the decaying earth.

Because of that realization, advocacies about recycling emerges here and there. I myself am a recycler. I’d like to do something to have my share on saving, rather prolonging, the greener earth. One thing that can be done by all of us is choose the kind of lighting…one that helps save…like that of Sylvania light bulbs or any of those that makes you go green.

I have 3 children. Three opportunities to toilet-train tots. My mom had 6 opportunities of her own and 5 to learn from her directly.

As early as my children learns to walk (9 months), I started sitting them on the toilet. Yes, the adult one. I never used any of those tot versions. It would be guess-work at first as I’d never know the schedule. When I sit them I’d make the shwi-shwi-shwi-shwi sound to induce them to pee. If after 2 minutes there’s nothing, I’ll stop and get back after an hour. When it’s successful, I praise them with ‘very good!’ and from then on get them back every 3-5 hours, depending on the amount of liquid they have taken. As for the stool, I make the u-uuuuu….u-uuuuu sound to induce them. This way, I get less wet and soiled diapers.

Every year, the children get to travel at least 6-8 hours straight during the Feast of Tabernacles. No toilet. If there is, I don’t want to use any public toilet for my babies. That’s the time I’d use disposable diapers.
