Many have realized that we have done a lot of destruction to our Mother Earth that time is being cut short for our existence that we might just find ourselves outliving the decaying earth.

Because of that realization, advocacies about recycling emerges here and there. I myself am a recycler. I’d like to do something to have my share on saving, rather prolonging, the greener earth. One thing that can be done by all of us is choose the kind of lighting…one that helps save…like that of Sylvania light bulbs or any of those that makes you go green.

Better when you have stored them in real memory cards, that way you have a way to get them for future perusing. With today’s technology, picture albums which used to hog all our library space, they can now be stored in the palm of your hand.

From the ages of Atari, xbox 360 is what dominates the gaming world in the homes of every computer game addict today. Just like any other man-made stuff, human nature dictates what he likes or dislikes. More often than not, the will is great to get hold of it and when he’s gotten hold of it, makes use of it to the maximum as if there is no more tomorrow.

Below are some of the good and bad aspects of owning an xbox 360. Let me start with the bad. Note that the list are just some and they just popped in my mind at the moment of writing.

- added electricity consumption
- less time to sleep
- less time to do assignments/work
- less family communication
- neverending upgrade of games to play (cost of buying, unless borrowed or given)
- strained/tired eyes

What are the good aspects?

- opportunity to develop self-control
- opportunity to develop finger reflexes
- eye exercise (unless too much, otherwise that will be strain)
- opportunity to relax (again, unless too much)
- you’re in
- you encourage the IT science and business sector to make things better
- you help the IT economy
- kids learn to use the computer at a very early age (age 1)

Many of you who do know me are also aware of my love for coffee. I used to take about ten mugs a day and I know that is a little too much especially on the budget. I have lessened my intake to about 6 mugs but it will give me some headache…so I’ll drink another mug and my headache will disappear.

Before I loved coffee so much I was having many severe asthma attacks until I learned that coffee is a remedy…and it was a very good remedy with that flavorful aroma. Hmmm…..

With the budget in mind, the best I can get is mere instant coffee but I would love to taste all the different flavors and I would love to have this from the selection of the espresso machines!

I recall the first time I assembled an AM radio back in 1985. It was exciting because I got to understand the schematic diagram and design my own plastic circuit board (PCB). As long as it meets the demands of the schematic diagram and parts do not criss-cross, then you’re ok.

After board is etched and the parts soldered, you still need batteries to make the radio work.

Maybe it’s time to have one of those wind up radios that gives you 35 minutes of power for every 30 seconds of winding.
Here where I live, there are several bus companies you can rely on to bring you to different directions. One thing in common, though, is having “video on board” as part of their come-on. If not a movie, it will be the TV that is on.

One bus company saw a different angle. What you see is a series of short entertaining stuff, be it an MTV, a YouTube video, a TV food show, fashion show, but in between, there are ads of different sorts. While traveling for more than an hour, you’ll see it loop back.

Having this digital signage is not limited in buses but where many people are waiting like terminals, malls and parks. When there’s nothing else to see, your tendency is to watch, even if it’s just as an…and even if you have looped several times.

by Cecile Cinco

You have probably heard of laser engraving machines, but how does it work and what can it do?

Basically, it follows the design you have by means of a laser beam, thus, the real work you have to do is the design itself. Everything else is computerized.

What materials can be used and what applications?

Arts and crafts as hobby or commercial products like stencils and miniatures. Have you seen

those wooden puzzles that you can assemble to make a specific animal or structure? I used to do the effect of that center image using styrofoam and styro cutter. Not that detailed but that is what you can accomplish with a laser engraver without sweat at all. Woodworking will never be the same again when you use a laser engraver.

Awards and personalization items are also very in-demand. If it used to take weeks to deliver one, now it can take a lot less (isn’t that an oxymoron?), probably under an hour!

Industrial markings and cuttings such as bar codes, signages and metal stencils can be seen everywhere, which means there is a demand for such.

Printing and design not only on paper but also on CDs and textile is also possible with this beaming machine.

Product decorating has never been easier!

How about signs, badges and stamps?

The possibilities are limited by your imagination. Put together an artist and an entrepreneur and your income potential is just great!

You can also use laser engraving machines to mark glass, ceramic, metal (coated and bare), and stone (natural and synthetic).

Cutting, marking and engraving can be done on fabric and leather, paper and cardboard, plastic (sheet, film and molded), rubber (natural, synthetic and foam), and wood.

Ahh…if I have one of those machines, I’ll be may be the start to my first million.

Enzymes are naturally produced by our bodies but as we age, we get deficient in producing enzymes. Commercial enzyme supplements vary and are taking the interest of the public especially the health conscious but how can you be sure that what you are buying is actually beneficial to your body?

Systemic oral enzyme is agreed to be of the same importance as the multivitamins you take daily, which takes care of the delaying or preventing most common age-related maladies today.

Enzymes, though, are very fragile. It takes very sophisticated technological specialization to ensure potency and delivery of what it’s supposed to do. Exposure to moisture will also lessen the potency of the enzymes to the point they just eat themselves up. With improper care, most commercial enzymes are deem useless and only cost you time, effort and money.

Systemic oral enzymes should be packaged in a way that no other ingredient merge with it. The process of manufacturing, is also very important as heat can easily destroy enzymes.

Packaging should be that when you take it, that your stomach acid will not merely destroy the enzymes even before it can work for its purpose.

Another point you have to consider is the “green” practices of the manufacturer. How environmentally friendly are they?

It’s not easy to look for enzyme supplements that are really potent. Before you take your pick, might as well scrutinize the manufacturer’s background.

In 2000, one of my brothers-in-law gave us an old mobile phone. It’s one of those jurassic phones, as we call it. I’m not sure of the model but I think it was Motorola and it was about an inch and a half thick, about 7 inches long and 2 inches wide. It had a digital display where the numbers you punch in are reflected in red. You pull the 4-inch antenna when you have to use it. The charger is about 3 inches square and an inch high. The battery is half the phone which occupies the back. You make the phone stand on the charger slot to have it charged which lasted only for about 3 hours, and as the battery weakened over time, you have to have it charged while you’re talking with someone.

Then I had a chance to buy a Nokia 6210. It was the funniest phone I had because I have dropped it several times and the parts scattered all over the place within a 2-meter radius and I picked every part up, and like a jigsaw puzzle, put them together, and still worked! I was able to use it for 3 years, I think. It was very used that you can’t recognize the numbers and letters on the keypad. I finally gave it rest when I got fed up tinkering on the small parts to keep them together. Lost tread was basically the reason parts kept on falling apart.

The next phone I had, which I bought second hand also was a Nokia 5210. It was one of the best, I think, for the purposes I needed at that time, most especially, texting (SMS). The Philippines is not the Texting Capital of the World for nothing. I don’t have any interest with phone games at all so it doesn’t concern me. The phone was small, fits in my pocket, and it’s shock proof so rugged motions and even some drops was nothing. Later, my eldest started to use it until she lost it while biking.

Last year, in February, I bought the most awaited ASUS V80. Hubby compared phones on the net for about 5 months to see what fits me, budgetwise, basic features and a 2-Mp camera. It was the best 2-Mp camera in the market. (I don’t need more than 2-Mp since I meant to use it for the internet.) Up until now, that’s my phone.

I’m just one of the subscribers who enjoy the benefits of a GSM phone. I’m in sales (real estate) my phone has helped me a lot, communicationwise and photowise. I’m just one of those subscribers who has never changed number for 4 years now.

It took 12 years to hit the 1 billion subscribers until 2004 but only 2.5 years to hit the next billion. With 3.3 billion at the moment and still growing, there is no doubt that the telecommunication industry is the future. It also means that more cell phone towers are bound to be installed in the next few years to accommodate the growing subscribers.

How about you, what’s your GSM story?
